Studio Römer is a creative consultancy for global art strategies & curation, a production studio for film and theatre, and a think tank for cultural visions for cities. We develop and execute cultural visions from beginning to end: providing comprehensive curatorial strategy, managing the briefing and procurement of artists, and overseeing design development from inception to production, through installation and unveiling. Our Team is headed by Dr. Barbara Römer and it consists of talented international group of independently minded people united by a passion for culture.

Dr. Barbara Römer
Studio Founder

Dr. Barbara Römer is an art curator and strategy consultant who specializes in developing cultural visions for cities, with clients ranging from Miami to Riyadh (where she was named a “Global Thought Leader” in 2017).

Born in Germany, she was educated at Princeton and received her PhD at Cambridge University, worked in museums in France and Japan, directed theatre in Germany, produced two feature films in the USA, and consulted with McKinsey & Company in the Munich and New York offices, where she was an integral part of creating the Nonprofit Practice and elected the US representative for the Arts & Culture Sector. She is the Founder of Globe Stage, a project to build an international 21st-century mobile theatre designed by Foster + Partners.

In addition to heading Studio Römer, she is a frequent speaker, a Senior Advisor to McKinsey, and a trustee of the Deutsches Museum.
